Bramble Coffee Co

A brand identity and storefront for a small-batch Somerset coffee roaster — from naming to a website that sells.

Freshly roasted coffee beans in a wooden scoop

Bramble wanted the taste of its coffee to come through before the first sip. We built a brand and a storefront that put the roastery front and centre.

A difference you can name

Tom Ainsworth had been roasting small batches on the edge of the Mendips for two years before he came to us. The coffee was excellent; the brand was a blank brown bag. He wanted to sell online and knew the branding needed to do real work.

We started with a decision, not a logo: Bramble would be known for roasting in sight of the fields the coffee comes from — single-origin, roasted within a week of shipping. Every choice flowed from there.

The identity

  • Name. Bramble — native, hedgerow, West Country; short enough for a bag and a screen.
  • Palette. Raw bean browns, deep field green, and a warm cream that survives print and packaging.
  • Type. A characterful display face for the bags, paired with a quietly excellent text face for the site’s long product stories.

A storefront that sells the story

The website leads with the roastery, not the checkout. Each coffee gets a proper story — the farm, the region, the tasting notes — because that’s the difference Bramble can’t be copied on. The store connects to Shopify for checkout and Klaviyo for the seasonal mailing list, while the editorial pages stay fast and easy to edit.

Outcome

Bramble launched the new brand and storefront in time for its first Christmas season. Online orders overtook wholesale within eight weeks, and the coffee — which the website had always been a fair match for — now sells out its single-origin batches in days rather than weeks.
